I understand that I am responsible for completing my income
tax return in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code and for
reporting all income received by me during the calendar year.
I want to know whether I am in compliance. I can't tell
whether I am in compliance or not until I can find the statute
which tells me whether I have to complete and file a return. Would
you please refer me to that statute?
I asked three accountants to provide me with the statute which
requires me to file a tax return. None could show it to me,
although each offered to prepare a tax return for me in return for
money.
Now that I have clarified what I am looking for, I'm sure you
can give me the code number, section number, etc., which
pertain(s) to my question. By the way, you may review my
experiences with the IRS regarding this matter at <http://www.nakedgov.com>.
Very truly yours,
R J Newland
Ms. Schreier has not responded
as of 12/30/98. I wrote a letter
to Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted
McBride, a man with
whom I am personally acquainted, and who once told me that the
attorneys in the U.S. Attorney's office had "a lot more principles
than Hitler's henchmen".
